Dallas police officer Amber Guyger has been charged with manslaughter after killing Botham Shem Jean in his own apartment.

Amber Guyger, the Dallas cop who killed Botham Shem Jean in his own apartment after mistaking it for hers, is now claiming that he didn't listen to her "verbal commands" before fatally shooting him.

In a Texas Rangers arrest affidavit released Monday, Guyger recounted what led to the shooting. After returning home from a 12-hour shift on Thursday night, she walked into Jean's apartment and shot her gun twice after he ignored her commands. After the shooting, she proceeded to call 911. She also said that the apartment door was left ajar and that the room was completely dark when she fired. It was only after the shooting that she turned on the lights and realized she was in the wrong apartment.

However, Lee Merritt, the attorney representing Jean's family, says there are two witness statements that contradict Guyger's account of the incident.

According to Merritt, the witnesses said they heard a woman knocking on the door before the shooting and saying, "Let me in."

Guyger has since been released on a $300,000 bond. The Texas Ranger Division, a separate agency from the Dallas Police Department, is leading the investigation on Guyger.

"The Texas Rangers made the decision to issue an arrest warrant for manslaughter," Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnsonsaid to 21 CBS DFW. "The ultimate decision, in terms of what this charge will be, will be presented to the grand jury."

Jean died at the age of 26.
