Watch Versace's Spring/Summer 2017 Line Come To Life w/ Unreleased Music From Prince
Suppose we've long known that Prince and high fashion were virtually synonymous. I mean, here's a man known just as well for his music as what he did and did not wear. This past weekend, fashion giant, Versace, debuted their spring/summer 2017 looks at an exclusive show, but if you run the tape back, the score is peculiarly familiar. In that it features an 11-minute-plus mix of unheard Prince music, which Donatella Versace claims has been sent to her consistently over the years from her dear, late friend, with whom she shared a special bond.
Speaking with Billboard, Versace shared her inspiration for including the in her show:
"My heart was broken by the news of Prince’s passing -- I am still in shock. I wanted to express my love and admiration for my friend who I miss so much. Celebrating him and his music at my menswear show seemed like the best way. "
And though we can't say for sure whether The Purple One would have signed off on this usage, it does seem to have been done out of love for his legacy and imprint on the fashion world. You can watch Versace's new line come to life with unreleased music from Prince in the clip below.
