We all know Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, the half-singing, half-rapping, Canadian musical phenomenon. But not all of us know that Drake's father, Dennis Graham or Champagne Papi's Papi, is also a musician in his own right. You might have caught glimpses of Graham senior make appearances on Drake's social media and/or music videos such as "Worst Behavior" which was shot in Graham senior's city of Memphis, Tennessee. Drake's father has worked as drummer with the famed Jerry Lee Lewis. Music runs even deeper than that in Drake's family, his uncles are the songwriter Teenie Hodges, who co wrote "Love and Happiness" with Al Green, and the legendary Larry Graham, who founded the band Graham Central Station and played with Sly and the Family Stone, not to mention being credited with pioneering the slap bass technique or "thumpin’ and pluckin’, a style of playing that such greats as Bootsy Collins, Stanley Clarke, among many others have utilized. He was even a mentor to Prince.
Dennis Graham has linked up with producer Jamie Iovine, who is the son of music mogul Jimmy Iovine, co-founder of Interscope Records, to work on an album. It's yet to be seen if Drake will feature on the project. No title or release date yet, but the duo say that they will release a full version of the single "Kinda Crazy" soon and they are at work on the album. In the meantime check out a clip of Dennis Graham for the song "Kinda Crazy" released by TMZ, below.
