Despite his complicated history of Prince interactions (read here) Bilal has proven to be a faithful sergeant in The Purple Army. And so it was hardly a surprise that he popped up at opening night of The Revolution's string of tributes at the famed First Avenue venue, rocking alongside Wendy, Lisa, Bobby Z, Dr. Fink and Brownmark (not to forget Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone) on a stage that is synonymous with Prince.
For his run with the fabled five-piece (+2) Bilal reprised his BET tribute performance, squalling through thePurple Rainballad "The Beautiful Ones" with the actual Revolution by his side. For those that were in the house, our envy cannot overstated. Tonight the show goes on with an all-purple after-party with music from DJ Questlove, who will spinning all of his rarities in the house that Prince built.
