Wale pulled through Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night, performing two of his latest, greatest tracks backed by a full band at the program’s LA studios. Backed by a full band, Wale tore through “Matrimony” (sans-Usher, unfortunately) and “The Girls On Drugs,” at times hopping down into the crowd and engaging directly with the crowd.
We last saw Wale perform “The Girls On Drugs” with a little help from The Roots on The Tonight Show, and while we’re certainly biased toward the greatest band in all of late night, his clique did an excellent job of holding it down. And that simmering groove on the intro of “Matrimony” is some of the grooviest playing we’ve heard all week.
