Odd Future cohorts Vince Staples and James Fauntleroy-- of "Fertilizer" fame-- team up for "Nate" a righteous boom-bap rocker produced by none other than Scoop DeVille. Its got all the big drum sentiments and old-soul sampling of the golden age, reminiscent of Alchemist or Fat Jon rocking under some choice verses from Staples . Then about halfway through, Fautleroy sneaks in with that dazed croon, flipping the track into a Channel Orange outtake with a whirling synth and a layered vocal treatment.
Its the first drop off Staples' Shyne Coldchain II tape, which features appearances from Jhene Aiko and No I.D. handling the bulk of the production. Staples can be found sharing stages on Earl Sweatshirt's WEARLD Tour throughout the rest of the month, but sets off on Schoolboy Q's Oxymoron Tour at the top of March. With so much in the works, its easy to see why we've been so enamored with Staples since his primetime debut on Earl's dystopian smash "Hive." You can stream the latest from Vince Staples and James Fauntleroy below, but keep your ears to the ground, we'll have more on Staples & Co soon.
