Video Premiere: Szjerdene "Blue Lullaby"

As promised, our favorite UKplayer on the come up Szjerdene is dropping a new release next week (Tuesday, March 27th) and OKP is hella chuffed to be premiering the very first single and video off Patchwork, The EP. It's called "Blue Lullaby" and in it, the soulful beauty of Szjerdene's voice is tempered by a wicked, almost Portishead-ish beat of strummed guitar and knocking drums (produced and arranged by Szjerdene herself, in conjunction with Glen Nichols). It's a darker strain than we've so far heard from Szjerdene, who is also capable of turning out the sunniest of sunny day jams. A dark strain as well is reflected in the Black Swan-inspired cover art (see after the jump) which equally conjures up the "savage beauty" of the recently departed designer Alexander McQueen's work. The video itself is exquisitely shot & directed by Josh Feder and Saul Abraham (you may recall their powerful work on the visuals for "Leila's Tale") but we'll let you discover the intimate, blue-tinged world it creates for yourself. Watch above and stay tuned for more from The Patchwork, The EP in the days ahead.
