Those that have charted the progression of Van Hunt‘s crowdfunding campaign, probably won’t find this as any news to them. But for the rest of you, we’re happy to say that elusive soul smith has finally completed the initiative and has announced that his new album The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets will be arriving on May 5th via Thirty Tigers for the now antsy masses. What’s more, the announcement comes with the arrival of the gritty new groove “Vega (Stripes On).”
And while you may now be more familiar with his grungy, garage funk (prominently displayed on his 2011 release What Are You Hoping For?,) this steamy, sweat-soaked gem offers a taste of his deeper Starchild & Hendrix-rooted influences, which is probably the school of r&b that we were all hoping he’d tap into on the next stop of his journey. There’s no word on who the supporting cast for the album is just yet, but if it’s anything like his former efforts, we can expect a whole lot of Hunt and maybe even a few purple people lending hands. Listen Van Hunt’s new single “Vega (Stripes On)” below, add it your rotation on iTunes and preorder the new record on Pledge Music today.
