Video Premiere: L'Orange x Blu - "Alone" [Official Video]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Straight out of the oven comes the official video for "Alone" - the first single from NC bred producer L'Orange featuring Cali MC Blu. The video follows the success of the singles "Alone", "The Mad Writer" and "Old Souls" - a push that led to sold out stock of the limited edition vinyl release of L'Orange's 2012 debut album The Mad Writer. The video is directed by Ashton Blessing for Kangaroo 5 Productions and co-stars Cedric Turner and Kate McCallum. The pair wander the streets in a black and white homage to the aesthetic of the 40s and 50s - likely the source of the sample flipped by L'Orange - both desperately searching for something. Their urgency and sadness - written often on their faces - lends to the pensive feeling of the beat that Blu seals with an infusion of vividly personal narration. At the height of the suspense it seems they only needed to find each other. In a trend that seems to be taking hold of music videos lately, the director provides a visual accompaniment to the single that takes the work from track to short film in a matter of minutes and stands worthy of the requisite cinematic credit. Following the recent success of L'Orange label mate Kaytranada, this is just another slam dunk for the Jakarta Records family to add to their growing list of heaters.
