Tupac Shakur is the subject of a new musical entitled Holla If Ya Hear Me - an upcoming production slated to hit Broadway just in time for the 2013-14 season. The production based on his massive catalog of recordings will be produced by the late rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur. The musical directed by Kenny Leon chronicles the lives of two childhood friends struggling to make something of themselves in a fictional rustbelt city. While Tupac's music makes an appearance in the production, the late-rapper will not appear as a character. The musical will feature the writing of Todd Kriedler and choreography from Wicked's Wayne Cilento. Casting for the production - still workshopping in New York City - has yet to occur.
