Tune-Yards is back with her/their custom blend of abstract pop and danceable afro-caribbean beats. The wildly eccentric but refined sound of Tune-Yards newest single “Water Fountain” shows off Merrill Garbus’ range of vocal styles as she transitions from sweet singing to an edgier spoken word in just a few lyrics. Tune-Yards creates an aural universe filled with hoots, hollers and woo-has that give voice to the anticipation leading up to the May 6th release of the third Yune-Yards studio album: Nikki Nack. Featuring the work of producers Malay and John Hill a megamix preview of the album was released on Tune-Yards' YouTube channel. Though the megamix was a big tease, the single does not disappoint. Along with the new track, Tune-Yards has added a number of new tour dates, from opening for Arcade Fire to playing festivals such as Firefly.
