Trump has since taken to Twitter to respond to the articles of impeachment — one for abuse of power, the other for obstruction of Congress.

On Tuesday, House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment against Donald Trump.

In a report from NBC News, the articles of impeachment — one for abuse of power and the other for obstruction of Congress — are charging Trump "with committing high crimes and misdemeanors." Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said the articles were being filed based on the allegations that Trump solicited foreign interference in the 2020 election, which compromised national security and threatened the integrity of the upcoming election.

"Wherefore President Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law," the articles read. "President Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States."

The articles can be read below.

Since then, Trump has responded to the articles on Twitter.

"To Impeach a President who has proven through results, including producing perhaps the strongest economy in our country’s history, to have one of the most successful presidencies ever, and most importantly, who has done NOTHING wrong, is sheer Political Madness!' he wrote, before calling the impeachment inquiry against him a "witch hunt.'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had first announced an impeachment inquiry against Trump back in September.
