We've already seen some of the talent Torii Wolf has with her pen and on wax, and a new video shows she can rock live as well.

Many first heard about Torii Wolf a few months ago, when she was touted as the latest protegé by hip-hop legend DJ Premier. The wacky-haired singer/songwriter from Wantagh, New York unveiled her debut single "1st" in May,  with an announcement that DJ Premier would be producing the entirety of her upcoming album Flow Riiot. Dilated Peoples hopped on a remix to the song weeks later.

“Torii has such a weird, wicked style. It’s just very left field—reminiscent of a Bjork or something like that,” Premier said upon the first single's release. “She is so unique and versatile; she writes, sings and is an accomplished guitarist and drummer. But image-wise, there is no comparison. Subject-wise, Torii is in a whole different place.”

Okayplayer premiered the nightmarish music video for the follow-up single "Shadows Crawl" last week. Now, we have footage of Torii Wolf and DJ Premier giving an intimate performance of the song live for VEVO. The performance is part of a VEVO web series called dscvr, where they highlight up-and-coming artists; Sam Smith, Tove Lo, DNCE, Alessia Car, James Bay and Hozier have previously been featured in the series.

With Preemo on the boards to spin the eerie instrumental, Wolf takes the mic to supply her smoky vocals. The song was already dope on its own, but the performance video is another reminder.  It'll be interesting to hear what she and DJ Premier present for their entire album together, but with Premier's track record and the duo going two for two so far, things are looking up.
