Tiombe's Tuesdays: Tiombe Lockhart - "Baby" [Official Video]
We’ve been Tiombe Lockhart stans around here for quite some time, so when we found out she he had some new projects she wanted to share with Okayplayer we said, Which car you want us to take? Of course knowing the multi-talented Ms. Lockhart–singer/songwriter/director–it turned out to be quite a few projects so we took a page out of KRS-One’s rhymebook and asked her to interview herself. Without further ado we hereby inaugurate Tiombe’s Tuesdays–a regular space for our diva-at-large to present (and share some behind the scenes creative process) on the various projects she’s involved with. For the 2nd installment in the series she presents the brand-new video for "Baby," T's wicked (literally, wicked) re-imagining of Jacob Miller's "Baby I Love You So" (also known to dub connoisseurs as "King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown".) The vid is directed by James Blagden and it may make you laugh or it may make you squirm but either way, you will never look at Utz potato chips quite the same way again. When we asked for her thoughts on the video, Tiombe sent us the eerie message reprinted after the jump, which we think is a fragment of the work of Clarissa Pinkola Estes? OR IS IT?
WHERE IS SHE PRESENT? WHERE CAN YOU FEEL HER, WHERE CAN YOU FIND HER? SHE WALKS THE DESERTS, WOODS, OCEANS, CITIES, IN THE BARRIOS, AND IN CASTLES. SHE LIVES AMONG QUEENS AMONG CAMPESINAS, IN THE BOARDROOM, IN THE FACTORY, IN THE PRISON, IN THE MOUNTAIN OF SOLITUDE. SHE LIVES IN THE GHETTO, AT THE UNIVERSITY, AND IN THE STREETS. SHE LEAVES FOOTPRINTS FOR US TO TRY FOR SIZE. SHE LEAVES FOOTPRINTS WHEREVER THERE IS ONE WOMAN WHO IS FERTILE SOIL.
WHERE DOES SHE LIVE? AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL, IN THE HEADWATERS, IN THE ETHER BEFORE TIME. SHE LIVES IN THE TEAR AND IN THE OCEAN. SHE LIVES IN THE CAMBIA OF TREES, WHICH PINGS AS IT GROWS. SHE IS FROM THE FUTURE AND FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME. SHE LIVES IN THE PAST AND IS SUMMONED BY US. SHE IS IN THE PRESENT AND KEEPS A CHAIR AT OUR TABLE, STANDS BEHIND US IN LINE, AND DRIVES AHEAD OF US ON THE ROAD. SHE IS IN THE FUTURE AND WALKS BACKWARD IN TIME TO FIND US NOW. -Women Who Run With The Wolves
