Thundercat - Apocalypse [LP Stream]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Groundbreaking bassist Thundercat follows his acclaimed debut LP Golden Age Of Apocalypse with a stream of his forthcoming release Apocalypse, dropping on June 4th. Hailing from the hallowed halls of Brainfeeder's school for mutant musical geniuses, Thundercat marks his return with a release that is a hyper-melodic patchwork of joy bursting in bright moments from a package that is slightly melancholic and certainly bittersweet. The LP - reportedly written after the untimely death of Thundercat's friend and labelmate Austin Peralta - expands upon the virtuosity of his debut project, but delves deeper into the unknown with a fearlessness and playful spirit that pays tribute to the pillars of funk and fusion while plowing forward into space. Thundercat anchors the release with an increased vocal presence that is reinforced by his lyrics; the words at times as whimsical as his fluttering cinematic soundscapes. The project produced by Thundercat, Flying Lotus and Mono/Poly, presents a sonic triumvirate that proves itself totally untouchable by the time you've begun to dance in your chair or hit rewind. Apocalypse arrives via digital download on June 4th. Physical copies will be available on June 9th. Pre-order Apocalypse via iTunes. Stream Apocalypse and check the tracklisting below.
