It seems The Weeknd is getting back to his old dark self. With no warning, the R&B demon has released a brand new video for a brand new track, "The Hills," which was only just teased during his sets at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival last month. Dark in tone, subject matter and production, the clip features The Weeknd and yet another nameless femme fatale limping away from a near-fatal car crash in the middle of an empty street. "When I'm fucked up / That's the real me" goes the hook, over and over; yes, the Toronto nightcrawler is back and ain't nothing changed.
"The Hills" is only one of what seems to be a sizable grip of new songs that The Weeknd has compiled following his time in the 50 Shades of Grey pop culture spotlight. Only yesterday three new leaked tracks appeared online, and now with the advent of "The Hills" it seems we're certainly due for a brand new record in the near future. Hopefully that album features more of the tectonic bass and tortured vocals of "The Hills," which is already guaranteed to get stuck in your head all day night (the track was produced by both Treated Crew's Mano and Illangelo. Purchase the track on iTunes and watch the brand new video below.
