The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli + Lupe Fiasco All Nominated For 'Impact Track' At BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014
The BET Hip-Hop Awards are quickly approaching, and while they don't typically share our sentiments in what particular parts of our culture we'd like to put forth onto the public pedestal, this year they seem to at least have some OKP favorites stashed in the list of nominees. The Roots (for "Never" featuring Patty Crash), Common (for "Kingdom" with Vince Staples) Talib Kweli (for "State Of Grace) and Lupe Fiasco (for "Mission") have all garnered nominations in the Impact Track category, acknowledging their efforts to remain socially geared and true to their causes.
The evening will be hosted by Uncle Snoop and feature the standard cypher schemes we've come to love from the awards show and likely a few on-point performances. The line-up has yet to be dished out, but we'll be sure to keep a handle on the situation, keeping you posted on when Kanye decides to drop his spoken-word album and perform the beatless single upon that star-studded stage (**crickets**.) Give it up for The Roots crew, Com, Lupe, Talib and all the nominees. Though there can only be one, all Soulquarians are winners in our eyes.
