Tekashi 6ix9ine thinks he’s the hottest artist in America.
The controversial Brooklyn rapper posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday declaring, “IM THE HOTTEST THING COMING OUT AMERICA,” after the release of his collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
The 22-year-old was kidnapped, beaten, and robbed on on Sunday. That same day, he released a new song, “FEFE,” featuring Nicki Minaj, who has now announced that 6ix9ine will be joining her and Future on their NICKIHNDRXX World Tour.
“Three days, 36 million views. No. 1, Apple, no.1 everywhere,” he says in the video. “And I’m glad I did it at this time because I gave it so much time to release straight singles,” he continued, alluding to his string of solo songs that earned top spots on the charts this past year.
Numbers-wise, he’s doing pretty well.
Aside from raking in millions of streams since his emergence, the rapper also debuted at No. 3 on both Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts with his debut project, Day69. His hit “Gummo,” climbed to No. 5 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs last December. A handful of his other singles landed on the charts as well. “GOTTI” marked his sixth consecutive Billboard Hot 100 entry.
6ix9ine has also been involved in a string of controversies. He was just released from Rikers Island earlier this month on $150,000 bond after allegedly choking a 16-year-old boy at a Texas mall for yelling insults at him. When he was 18, he plead guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance in October 2015 after he uploaded videos of himself present while a 13-year-old girl appeared nude, performing oral sex on another man.
