A teen in Atlanta has been killed after knocking on an apartment door he thought was his and his girlfriend's.

In a report from WSB-TV Atlanta 2, Omarian Banks arrived at the apartment early Friday morning and knocked on the door while speaking with his gilrfriend on FaceTime. Banks then started to walk away from the door while a man grabbed a gun and went onto the balcony to confront the 19-year-old, according to police. After a short conversation the neighbor, Darryl Bynes, shot Banks.

"I heard him say, 'Sorry, I'm at the wrong house.' Then the man said, 'No you're not. Ni**a, you at the right house.' And he shot two more times," Banks' girlfriend, Zsakeria Mathis, told WSB-TV.

Mathis said she had sent a Lyft to Banks, who had been with his mother. When he arrived at the apartment complex where they live at, Banks called Mathis and asked her to open the door. She started to worry when she didn't hear a knock at the door and walked outside. After hearing a gunshot she ran down the stairs and saw Banks on the ground.

"I turned him over," Mathis said. "He was moaning and groaning and he had tears in his eyes and he was just bleeding."

Another witness also shared a similar account of the incident.

"I see him running around the corner and all you hear him saying is, 'I am sorry. It was the wrong door,'" a neighbor said. "(He said), 'You ain't come to the wrong door' and shot him a third time. I saw him drop to the ground."

Bynes has been charged with murder and is being held at the Fulton County Jail. His family thinks he shouldn't be charged with murder, claiming that Bynes, a father of five kids, was trying to protect his family and has his truck stolen shortly before the altercation.

A GoFundMe for Banks' funeral costs has been made since his death.
