Ta-ku Reworks Himself On New Single "Down For You" ft. Alina Baraz

Less than a month after Australian producer Ta-ku released his excellent EP Songs To Make Up To we've been treated to a flipped rendition of one of its finest tracks. Ta-ku shared "Down For You" late last night (or early this morning if you're on Perth time), which combines the vocal talents of Alina Baraz with his slowly-twisting future soul track. Over pizzicato strings, gentle chords and the occasional rattling hi-hat, Baraz's vocals paint a gorgeous, if not new, scene. The track already carried a deep sense of longing when it was called "Long Time No See," and now with Baraz's soothing tones of assurance, the feeling is all the more real.

Baraz is an L.A.-based vocalist who turned heads last year with the release of her Urban Flora EP, a brightly-glossed slice of progressive R&B that packs just the right blend of acoustic piano and crackling snares to keep any Soulection head swimming in a tranquil sea of joy. Now, on "Down For You" she and Ta-ku sound like a perfect fit; they got each other, and they both got you too.

"Down For You" is by no stretch the only love ballad on Songs To Make Up To. Ta-ku chose "Love Again" as the projects lead-off single, and he recently performed the cut live with the assistance of Detroit vocalist JMSN. Watch that rendition below, but only after you dig on "Down Again."
