SXSW 2014: Official Okayplayer showcase
SXSW 2014 is just about here and Okayplayer is proud to announce that we'll be hitting Austin heavy at this year's music conference (kicks off next Wednesday 3/12), bringing our yearlong 15th birthday bashment to Texas with a series of South By Southwest concerts and parties, presented in collaboration with our channel partners Okayafrica, Okayfuture and LargeUp. Each event will showcase talent from that channel's particular arena.
A full lineup and schedule is below, but...spoilers first! DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown AKA Erykah Badu will be holding down Okayplayer (with a little help from Thundercat on the bass!) along with Cody ChesnuTT, SZA and a grip more of the most exciting artists out! Emanon (that's Aloe Blacc and Exile) and Top 14 Artist To Watch For 2014 Sango will top off the bill at our Soulection showcase. Screechy Dan and Los Rakas will join The Heatwave and Rice & Peas residents Max Glazer & DJ Gravy in bringing the dancehall experience to Southby. Finally Falcons (also Top 14 to Watch for 2014!), a rowdy crew of DJs and a secret TEKLIFE artist will be ringing in the Okayfuture. And all that's just the beginning. Wednesday, March 12th
Okayplayer and LargeUp team up with House of Marley to present a daytime party on the patio at Empire Control Room & Garage featuring The Rice & Peas Party, NYC's most exclusive dancehall event for 8 years running, and UK crew The Heatwave who have been doing the same in London for the past decade. The event will also feature special guests Jubilee (Mixpak) and Deejay Theory, plus performances by Screechy Dan and Los Rakas.

Thursday, March 13th
Okayplayer's new electronic music focused site Okayfuture, along with House of Marley, connect for a night of bass at Hudson on 5th featuring DJs from across the nation including Brenmar, Falcons, Booty Fade, Durkin, Brother in Arms, and a secret appearance from one of Chicago’s TEKLIFE crew.

Okayplayer teams up with Global music making collective Soulection for an Official SXSW showcase at Vulcan Gas Company featuring Sango, SPZRKT, Waldo, Emanon (Aloe Blacc & Exile), Dag Savage, Quantic, Mr. Carmack, ESTA, Lakim, Dpat and Christian Tiger School out of South Africa. Saturday, March 15th
Okayplayer's main event: an official SXSW showcase at Bungalow featuring an incredible line up of up-and-coming talent anchored by a DJ set by DJ Lo Down Loretta Brownaka Erykah Badu featuring Thundercat on bass. Performances include Cody ChesnuTT, SZA, Roman Gianarthur, Deep Cotton, Daley, Liam Bailey, THEESatisfaction, Petite Noir (South Africa), and Young Fathers (Scotland/Nigeria/Liberia), who will be representing for the Okayafrica set.
