SummerStage 2016 Is About To Be So (Naturally) Lit.
As the days warm and the lawns green, all of the signs are pointing towards another wonderful three-month stretch in NYC’s 843 acre mid-drift for an entire season’s worth of SummerStage celebrations. This year’s line-up is a hefty on to say the least, sprawling out into Brooklyn and Queens’ copious parks and amphitheaters with satellite events and festivals for ears that are drawn towards any and all genre under the sun.
Amongst this year’s performers you’ll find the pioneering Nya-Rock fusion of Cymande, the heavenly KING, the rootsy blues of Deva Mahal, the surgically precise chops of DJ Parler, and that’s just for our own particularly dope run in the sun. Elsewhere you’ll find Kendra Foster and DJ Natasha Diggs rocking back-to-back in Bed Stuy’s Von King Park, Just Blaze and friends spinning gems galore, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Empress Of holding it down for the forward-thinking musical minds on a bill courtesy of Okayfuture, Congolese supernovas Mbongwana Star brought to you by the homies at Okayafrica, and so much more than these few hundred words are even capable of containing.
It all gets started this June and continues all summer long, so click through the pages below and start planning-out your excursions, this year’s Summerstage line-up is not lacking in any department and should be on any reasonably-minded individual’s list of vacation stops while in the tri-state era. Oh, did we mention that damn-near the entire program is free?
