Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar & Eminem Will Appear On The 'Straight Outta Compton' Soundtrack
With just a month remaining until N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton hits theaters nationwide, clues as to who will appear on its soundtrack are beginning to surface. This weekend, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem were all linked to the film's companion album.
Details on the Straight Outta Compton OST came form the film's director, F. Gary Gray, who told MTV News that the entire album is, in a word, "Insane." "Dr. Dre, it took him 15 years to step out and say, ’I want to do music again’ in the way that he’s doing it. The soundtrack is insane. Seriously, it’s incredible," Gray said. MTV News reported that Dre's early jazz, soul and funk influences figure prominently on the upcoming LP, and that both Kendrick and Eminem get their due time to shine.
Speaking about his newly-made film and what movie fans and hip-hop heads alike can expect from Straight Outta Compton, Gray stressed that “The details, the stories, the authenticity that you get and you can draw from these guys, it goes beyond googling what happened in the Death Row days or googling what happened when the group broke up,” he said. “And I think that’s what people want to see.”
