Twitter Invests $70 Million In SoundCloud

After years of procuring major and indie label contracts, Soundcloud appears to be ready for the streaming war. Today, the cloud jumps into the big leagues, launching Soundcloud Go; an ad-free subscription-based service that could very well rival that of any other streaming platform at $9.99 or Android users and $12.99 for those of us on the Apple bandwagon.
Long known for its ease of use and seemingly endless catalogue of songs, Soundcloud's new service should come as a relief to heavy users, who have been plagued by their interspersed ad platform for years on end. And though they'll have to clear up just what's behind this 3 dollar gap between operating systems, with the sheer breadth of content available, they can just sign us up and take our money already. Subscribers get a 30-day free trial to test the waters before they dive in, but we've got a feeling that you'll be sticking around. Soundcloud Go launches stateside today with plans for a global launch later this year. Head over to cloud today to sign yourself up and read a statement from Soundcloud CEO Alexander Ljung on the company's new groove below.
"SoundCloud Go represents our vision of the future of music streaming: a platform for creators to collaborate on; for fans to discover the latest tracks, enjoy legendary music and connect with their favorite artists; and for our unique creative community to have the opportunity to be paid for their work."
