Solange, James Blake and Michael Kiwanuka were among a host of acts to grace the stage at The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts in Pilton, Somerset England this past weekend. The annual festival boasted a deep bench with performances from Alice Russell, Lianne La Havas, Laura Mvula, Toro y Moi, Public Enemy and others. Kicking things up another notch, The Rolling Stones made their debut at Glastonbury to a massive crowd at the festival’s Pyramid Stage. Their performance dismissed a great deal of public speculation over whether they would actually be in attendance. In an interview ahead of their set, Keith Richards told Billboard that The Rolling Stones were “destined to play Glastonbury.” Continuing, he referred to the occasion as “a culmination of our British heritage.” They took the occasion of their homecoming as an opportunity to rock the house properly. Ending the night with a rousing performance of their time-honored classic, “Satisfaction.” Check a few of the performances below to get a taste of Glastonbury 2013.
