When news first came that Snoop Dogghad plans to sign to Pharrell's i am Other label, the world seemed, well, not all that surprised. The Doggfather has always been one to dabble outside the usual confines of hip-hop, so much so that to call him a dabbler is by now an outright mistake. Snoop Dogg (fka Snoop Lion?) shifts his sound however he wants, whenever he wants, and its really everyone's job to just sit back and enjoy the funky fruits of his sonic sojourns. Then, last month, word arrived that the debut fruit of Snoop's new signing is set to be Bush, an entirely new LP, produced by Pharrell, with features from the likes of Stevie Wonder and the The Gap Band brother Charlie Wilson.
Now a brand new video trailer to the album has hit the internet. Clocking in at a scant 28 seconds, the clip features a brief glimpse of Snoop rolling up and taking a hit of a phosphorescent l, rendered by graphics reminiscent of your old N64 console. The trailer ends with 8 seconds of what must be BUSH materia--it's pure Pharrell-brand funk, with guitar, rhodes and bass all chopped to tasty perfection. From the sound of things, P isn't straying from his GIRL sound anytime soon.
