[UPDATE: Slum Village's Dilla produced gem "Yes, Yes" is finally available to download via iTunes with all proceeds going to the children of J Dilla. So be sure to cop now that it's available and help keep Jay Dee's legacy strong by supplemental income for his tots.]
Happy Dilla Day y'all! What better way to celebrate Jay Dee's day of birth then with "Yes, Yes" a warm new single from his old camp Slum Village, produced by the GOAT himself. Its swaggered and swinging drums with deep, tight snares and claps, a rocking sample over a buried low-end. All the staples of his masterful and endlessly influential production styles, with a few lines from the late, great chopped in with verses from Illa J, T3 and Young RJ. All in all, its a sunny, top-down heater to help us remember exactly why the unrivaled great was so, well, great. Apparently there's an untitled Slum project in the works with production from Dilla, Black Milk and RJ due out this spring. We'll have more on it as details unfold, but until then be sure to put one up and rock with this new flame from Slum Village. Rest in percussion Jay Dee.
