Skipp Coon - "Assata Taught Me" (Page 181) [Official Video]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Mississippi spitter Skipp Coon pays tribute to Assata Shakur and other black women in the self-directed official video for "Assata Taught Me" (Page 181). The clip for the track is the third video to surface following the 2014 release of the acclaimed Miles Garvey LP. A statement of love, the video also serves as a memorial for women who have been killed by law enforcement officers. Skipp Coon punctuates the video by calling the names of Rekia Boyd, Aiyana Jones and Yvette Smith, all of whom are cited as "unable to attend." Check the footage below to watch the video. Purchase the Miles Garvey LP via Bandcamp. Stay tuned for more from Skipp Coon.
