Okayafrica Audio: Sinkane Drops 'Mean Love' LP [Stream] + World Tour Dates
Karas Lamb Karas Lamb
Sudanese vocalist Sinkane returns with a full stream of his forthcoming Mean Love LP ahead of the album's September 2nd release via DFA Records. The stream from NPR's First Listen is the first full taste of the highly-anticipated project and the latest from Sinkane following a stellar showing as the musical director of Atomic Bomb! The Music of William Onyeabor. His fourth solo LP and second on DFA combines dense rhythms with bright electronic melodies only bested by his ebullient vocal and candid lyricism, both of which tap the heartstrings as frequently as they toast to life. Each track is anchored in the brilliant and often bold chord work of African pop and folk - a trait particularly evident on the closing track "Omdurman", named for Sinkane's hometown in Sudan. The album stream is accompanied by a very large list of tour dates that find Sinkane hitting stages in North America and Europe from September 4th through December 1st.
