'Saving Banksy' Trailer Seeks To Dismantle The Art World's Graffiti-To-Gallery Pipeline

Banksy, regardless of his actual identity, has built a career in the crosshairs of the 21st century's greatest perpetual heist machine. His tags go from the outside of a building to the inside of a sterile gallery quicker than most can even gather to see them in their intended frame. They go for brain-busting hunks of cash at the auction block and are sometimes a spectacle in their mere creation. Case in point: the artist's New York City residency in the summer of 2013, where clues were left to lead fans to each new piece.

Most of those works were deconstructed by the end of each day, but when they're not taken down of the artist's own volition, they often end up in that soul-stealing graffiti-to-gallery pipeline. The new documentary Saving Banksy rallies some of the most acclaimed street artists in an attempt to dismantle the art world's fascination with selling the stolen crib to the highest bidder. You'll see and hear testimony from the likes of Ben Eine, Glen FriedmanNiels "Shoe" Meulman, Hera, Doze Green and more. Watch the trailer for the new film down below and hold tight for more info regarding its release, and perhaps even the true identity of Banksy. Don't hold your breath, though.
