'Samurai Jack' Creator Tapped For 'Luke Cage' Comic Reboot

Just in case you haven't had your fill of Marvel's hero-for-hire, Luke Cage, in the build-up to his breakout Netflix series, the comic book giant is gearing up to bring Cage back to the square panels from which he came. On October 5th, Marvel will release the first issue of a limited run reboot, aptly-titled Cage!, created by Genndy Tartakovsky, BKA the man behind Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory

The series will take place in Cage's 1970s NYC digs, following the arch of the original series, brought to life with the high-voltage illustrations we've come to expect from Tartakovsky, whose shared some of his very first panels and artwork from the new issue with the good folks at Birth Movies Death, which should certainly grab an eye or two from the analog comic book generation. In other Luke Cage news, the full season of the anxiously anticipated Netflix series will premiere on September 30th with music by Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge, as well as episodes named after Gang Starr songs. Watch the trailer below and hit the link to peep the first bits of artwork to make way from Cage! #1.
