In January 2015, El-P and Killer Mike of Run the Jewels took part in Rookie Magazine’s "Ask a Grown Man" series, offering thoughtful, candid advice to teenage girls on topics ranging from first kisses and heartbreak to age-gap relationships and emotional growth. Killer Mike famously reflected, “Being in love makes you feel kind of naïve,” and urged young people to honor their feelings while also looking out for their emotional well-being.

Killer Mike and El-P even tackle breakups as they run through questions from teens with all of the sincerity and cool that first endeared a legion of fans to their music.

Since Rookie Magazine folded in 2018, the video has been taken down but the internet hasn't forgotten gems like this, authentic caring voices offering real guidance in a world where emotional literacy can be scarce.
