Leave it Rick & Morty to bring new life and meaning to a deceptively-poignant Kendrick Lamar classic. Courtesy of the weird and wild web, Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools” has been recreated as a show anthem, finding the whole cast in step with the song’s disclaimer against the perils of alcoholism; a flip on the show’s glorification of fermented merriments. The whole cast gets their screen-time in the mash-up, created by NY-based editor Mylo The Cat (Adam Schleichkorn,) who is also responsible for some of those Muppet mash-ups we get to see so many of these days.
The show maybe on hiatus, but this will certainly do the trick in the meantime and maybe even spark an impromptu binge-watching session of the show’s second season. Peep the Rick & Morty treatment of “Swimming Pools” down below and hold tight for the show’s junior season, slated to arrive later this year. Rick & Morty co-creator, Dan Harmon is also reportedly working on an animated biopic treatment of the life and times of Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee, Bubbles. Go f*ckin’ figure. Head over to Schleichkorn’s Youtube page to peruse his copious viral sensations.
