Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea Plays Bass With Koko The Gorilla

Koko the gorilla and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers — a jam session for the ages.

The former got the opportunity to meet and play bass with the latter when Flea visited the Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, California, this past week.

"This is just the greatest thing that could ever happen. This is the day that I will never forget in my life," the acclaimed bassist said in a video posted on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' YouTube. Flea looked on as Koko worked her way around the instrument, turning some of the knobs and even plucking the strings for a little bit.

"One of Koko's favorite musicians, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers came to visit," the Gorilla Foundation wrote on their website."Koko was thrilled by the mellow sounds and a jamming session followed with Koko strumming on Flea's bass!"

The foundation also teases "future collaborations" between Koko and Flea, which could have very well been a joke. But if not it would definitely be cool to see.

Koko became famous for learning how to communicate with a modified version of American Sign Language. According to her caregiver Francine "Penny" Patterson, the 45-year-old gorilla is able to understand more than 1,000 signs of what Patterson calls "Gorilla Sign Language."

Throughout the years Koko has met a number of celebrities including Sting, Betty White, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mister Rogers. When she's not interacting with celebrities Koko takes care of a group of cats she adopted; watches movies; and paints. And now she'll be able to play some bass in her spare time.

"Koko you can have that bass. It's for you," Flea says in a different video before quickly adding, "But I've got to take the amp because it's not mine."

Watch what unfolds between Flea and Koko in the clips below.
