NYC: Ray Angry x Lucky Peterson + Special Guest Live At The Iridium [7/27]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Advanced Okayplayers will already be aware of the work of one Ray Angry AKA "Mr. Goldfinger"--who besides being the go-to piano-player (badman nuh inna di 'pianist' ting) for The Roots, has produced, arranged and played with some of the most iconic artists in the world. He has been musical director for the likes of Lauryn Hill, Joss Stone, and Kelis and has played with Whitney Houston, Prince, Talib Kweli, Roy Hargrove and Esperanza Spalding. He’s written songs for Melanie Fiona and Christina Aguilera and is currently on tour with D’Angelo. All of which is just set-up to explain why you need to see this man when he performs live with blues legend Lucky Peterson (illmatic since the age of 5!) as they kick off a two-night stand in NYC this Friday, July 27th. Those names will be joined by a super-group's worth of special guests including our beloved Sy Smith who, we're told--we'll be joining Ray to perform this amazing track "Let's Get Lost," which we just premiered! Highly recommended--see the flyer above and get full event details after the jump.
