Last year Raury landed on Donnie Trumpet's breakout Surf LP, assisting the The Social Experiment MD on the rapturous "Windows." The track was by all measures an album standout, equally brilliant in its arrangement and inspiring message (the culminating efforts of Francis Starlite, Chance The Rapper, BJ The Chicago Kid, Eryn Allen Kane and every Social Experiment member.) It was less an introduction to their creative kinship and more of a reminder of just how brilliant they are both in tandem and in their respective lanes.
Today they cross the streams once more with a stunning turn onCorinne Bailey Rae's beloved 2006 ballad, "Like A Star." Raury goes into full 3 Stacks mode, bouncing between affectionate croon and romantic wax, while Rae's lilt fades in and out of the cut, courtesy of Mr. Trumpet, taking the track to new heights and new depths all at once.
