Raekwon Launches Crowdfunding Campaign To Bring 'The Purple Tape Files' Doc To Life
This August will mark 20 years of cherishing the gritty Shaolin greatness that is Raekwon's solo debut Only Built For Cuban Linx. And in case you haven't heard, The Chef is going all out to commemorate his seismic solo introduction this year, breaking ground (and film strips, in this case) on the much necessary behind-the-scenes-and-boards documentary The Purple Tape Files, which promises to chronicle it's creation and influence two decades removed. While a fortunate few may have been treated to a brief preview of the doc at Sundance last month, in order for the rest of us to lay our eyes upon it Rae's enlisting in the Wu disciples to help bring this thing to life.
Rae has taken to Fanbacked.com to not only ask for your support, but also to help give you access to some exclusive gear and opportunities, including all of the merch (tees, caps and DVDs,) a chance to have you own tape reviewed by Raekwon and the real Ghostface Killah, and for those of you with the heavier wallets, access to all of Raekwon's shows for the next 5 years. Below you'll find a link to the campaign with more info and a video featuring his personal plea. Let us all join the Master Chef in cooking up some dough to bring this thing to the world.
