Raekwon's latest album, The Wild, hits stores — streaming services, really — today. It's the project that Rae has been pushing for the last couple of months.

However, in a just-published interview with Consequence of Sound, Raekwon was in a reflective mood. After dropping some details about his new project, he was asked to name his 10 favorite hip-hop albums of all time.

While his list wasn't entirely surprising, it's interesting to see the albums that The Chef loves. Here are the albums he named:

Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick

Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle

Big Daddy Kane - Long Live the Kane

The Notorious B.I.G. - Life After Death

Nas - Illmatic

Mobb Deep - Hell on Earth

Mary J. Blige - My Life

Eric B. & Rakim - Follow the Leader

A couple of things stand out to us: one, there are two Wu-Tang albums on the list, his and Ghostface Killah's sophomore masterpiece. Two, he has My Life, an R&B album, on there (although that LP has many hip-hop elements to it.) And, three, he has Biggie's Life After Death on his list. When B.I.G. was alive they both had some tension, even though you can't hear any of it by how Rae speaks on the legend now:

“I miss Big. When he was here, he was a dope artist. He definitely was influential, too. That album right there had a lot of wordplay, a lot of selections of music that made everybody feel good about it. Big gave you every side of who he was on his albums. And, to me, that’s what a body of work represents."

Definitely head to Consequence of Sound to see the list and explanations for each pick. And check out The Wild, which is available now.
