Questlove, Black Thought & Charlie XCX Rework Deee-Lite's Classic "Groove Is In The Heart"
Questlove, Black Thought and Charli XCX joined forces to give Deee-Lite's '90 classic "Groove Is In The Heart" a proper reworking; another very Okayplayerish TV spot added to a run of at least 3 or 4 that come to mind in the last year alone. It's about as precise of a repackaging as you'd hope, leaving the groove right where it was by merely adding a vocal from the British popstress and a few ad libs from Questo and Tariq, not to mention cleaning up the track a bit with a some new layers of snaps and claps on top of an already tight snare. The rework was fit to a Target ad that aired during last night's historic 40th anniversary special for Saturday Night Live. While Q-Tip and Bootsy Collins are no where to be found, Questo and Thought prove to be more than worthy subs on this playful update.
