Q-Tip Hints At A Tribe Called Quest World Tour
Q-Tip was interviewed by Billboard, where the he revealed that A Tribe Called Quest is going on one final world tour to coincide with their recently released sixth and last album, We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service.
"This is our last record, and we'll probably do a world tour," he said. "After that, that's it, for the rest of our lives."
He also discussed Phife Dawg's passing, and how it was him that actually led the creation of the album.
"It was Phife who spearheaded this whole project — all we could do is make dope music and celebrate our man," Tip said.
The Abstract also shared his thoughts on the election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States, saying:
"He's somebody who’s never held political office. He's never been, like, an assistant coach on a softball team! I guess you could argue that it shows you can be anything you want if you dream big, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who would argue that. And that's before you even get to the homophobic, racist, sexist, myopic principles he ran on."
Earlier today (Thursday) Tribe dropped a trailer for the music video to "We The People." The almost 30 second clip shows a group of guys setting up speakers across New York City, which are programmed to a collection of microphones surrounding Tip. As he fires off the song's first lines they are heard from people throughout the city, who begin venturing the streets to find out where the sound is coming from.
Tribe will also be having an intimate conversation with Elliott Wilson this Friday at the Marlin Room in New York City's Webster Hall. If you live in the city and want to check the event out, tickets are available for purchase here.
And if you have yet to cop the new album, rest assured — we have got you. Head to our shop and cop it.
