Prince Was Planning A Paisley Park Reality Show For Netflix Before His Death

Before his untimely passing earlier this year Prince was planning a reality show that was going to be on Netflix.

In a recently released feature by GQ, the publication talked with a number of fans and close collaborators and friends about their most memorable moments of the Purple One.

Within the story photographer Maya Washington revealed that Prince was in talks to create a Paisley Park reality show on Netflix. He had contacted Washington and asked for her help with the prospective show, and said she would only participate if he were in the program.

"Why don't you want anyone to see your sense of humor," Washington recalled asking Prince in regards to him appearing in the series. His answer? "Maya, I can't be funny. I have to save the world."

Netflix confirmed the potential show in a statement to Vulture, saying "We did have discussions about it, but sadly for all of us it did not come to fruition prior to his passing."

A Paisley Park reality show would have surely been something, although it is hard to wonder what that would have looked like considering Prince would not be on the screen himself. Still, it is safe to say that plenty of people would have binge watched this show.

At the very least the world is slated to get a documentary biopic on Prince some time in 2017. Titled Prince: R U Listening? the film will tell the story of the Purple One through his bandmates, friends and family. Dez Dickerson, Prince's first guitar player and Andre Cymone, Prince's close friend and original bassist, are included in the film, as well as Sheila E.; Lenny Kravitz; Mick Jagger; Billy Idol; and Bono.

R U Listening? will be spearheaded by Emmy and Peabody award winning director and producer Michael John Kirk, known for his work on the PBS documentary series Frontline.
