Prince is planning to drop a double dose of purple sonics, as his much anticipated 3rdEyeGirl project Plectrum Electrum and a new solo record Art Official Age have finally been stamped with firm release dates. On September 29th, not one but both of these records are going to drop and in a seismic way. For months (if not years at this point) the great sage of lavender-tinged frequencies has been hitting us with a barrage of tactfully dropped singles, but now we know which tracks will land on which album.
One thing you'll notice if you look at the tracklists for each of these albums (posted below) is that the overwhelming majority of what The Kid's put out as of late has actually been from the solo record. With the exception of "FUNKNROLL" (which will actually land on both records, perhaps even in two different forms) Plectrum Electrum is littered with tracks we've yet to put our ears on. But I suppose that day will come and soon. Once again, both records will drop September 29th with preorders available via iTunes today.
