Lyric McHenry, Daughter of Film Producer Doug McHenry, Found Dead in The Bronx
Authorities found Lyric McHenry, who was reportedly 20 weeks pregnant, dead in a desolate part of the Bronx with no pants and in possession of cocaine.
Stanford University alum and former reality star Lyric McHenry was found dead in a desolate part of the Bronx early Tuesday with no pants and in possession of cocaine, authorities say.
She was found laid out on the sidewalk above the Major Deegan Expressway at Undercliff Ave. and Boscobel Place in Highbridge at around 5 a.m. She was wearing a pajama top and no pants, police said. Her knees were bruised, but there were no other visible injuries.
According to authorities, a small ziplock bag containing cocaine was found on her. Her current cause of death is suspected to be drug overdose and police are investigating whether she was dumped on the sidewalk.
McHenry was rushed to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, where she died. She was reportedly 20 weeks pregnant.
The 26-year-old daughter of movie producer Doug McHenry—who worked on films such as New Jack City and Krush Groove— starred in the 2016 E! reality series EJNYC alongside Magic Johnson‘s son EJ Johnson.
Hours before she was discovered dead, McHenry posted videos on her Instagram while partying and possibly celebrating her birthday at the Frederick Hotel, the SoHo Grand and Dream Downtown in Manhattan.
McHenry previously produced and appeared on her close friend EJ Johnson’s reality show, and worked as an associate producer and host for Complex Networks. From June 2008 to August 2011, she reportedly worked as a fundraising intern for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
Lyric McHenry was a smart, kind, successful, Stanford grad who held an extremely promising future. I’ve known her since she was a teen when she participated in a girls empowerment video I produced. She was one of the most dynamic young ladies I knew. RIP Lyric. You are loved. pic.twitter.com/KFdyjVmjsX
