Pras Talks 'Sweet Micky For President' on The Daily Show

Last night, Pras was a guest on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Before I continue, let me make clear that no Fugees business is discussed in the sit-down, rather Pras’ talents in putting together (and narrating) the award-winning documentary, Sweet Micky For President (for some background check out Large Up’s recent interview with Pras) is discussed. To be honest, when Sweet Micky was elected, I initially had no idea it was the same wild compas music star I listened to incessantly at all those Haitian basement parties in my youth.

In the clip, Pras chronicles how the tragic 2010 Haiti Earthquake made it clear to him Haiti needed a new strong leader, which led him to call on his friend Michel Martelly, also known as Sweet Micky (“the Michael Jackson of Haiti”) to run for president (becoming Haiti's third democratically elected president in 2011).

Pras and Trevor also discuss the challenges of the campaign, Pras’ dad’s reaction to the Martelly's candidacy, which is pretty funny, and the similarities between their campaign and that of Donald Trump (a somewhat forced comparison IMO).

Watch it all, below.

The Ben Patterson directed doc, Sweet Micky For President, will be in theaters in Los Angeles this Friday and in New York on November 20th.
