Pharrell is officially everywhere right now. On stage on The Queen Latifah Show to perform his single “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. Behind the boards on the song of the summer, the other song of the summer and John Legend’s album, not to mention new joints from Aloe Blacc, Jennifer Hudson and Daley (standby for that one–dude is giving ’em away faster than I can blog ’em!). In the courtroom pre-emptively countersuing Marvin Gaye‘s estate and Will.I.Am, too. Hanging out with Nardwuar. Hanging out with Jay Z and Timbaland in Magna Carta clips for beats he maybe didn’t even produce. I am scared to turn around and find out he is here in the Okayplayer office sampling the sound of my typing fingers for a percussion sound on his next beat. As Pharrell tracks go, I was not a huge fan of this one but I am a fan of him hangin tuff right alongside Robin Thicke and Raphael Saadiq with the full Motown-style performance. Falsetto is not just for hooks anymore. Watch below and let me go post this Daley track so I’m caught up in case P drops another hit while I’m hitting ‘publish’.
