Pharrell- 'G I R L' LP [iTunes Radio Stream]
The time has come folks. After over a year of anticipation and mounting guest appearance rumors, Pharrell's G I R L LP is streaming for free (ninety-nine) via iTunes Radio. The LP marks only the second time that P has attempted to step out form behind his veiled existence as a hit-maker, and the first time he's done so by putting to rest his rather far-stretching ambition to be a featured MC on his solo debut In My Mind , as opposed to the crooning Neptunes frontman we all wish he had remained (word has it there's a pretty righteous remix album somewhere out there, which was reworked by The Roots entitled Out Of My Mind)
To say that this album is good, would be to undersell to the point of blasphemy. His latest solo venture--assisted at times by Nile Rodgers, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus-- is not good, but great. It brings all the staples of The Neptunes' wildly influential production chops into 2014. That's right, its the tight snares, lush string arrangements, funky clav and guitar licks that we all missed from the Williams- Hugo tandem. So go ahead and get your first taste of Pharrell's G I R L via iTunes Radio and be sure to cop when it hits next Tuesday.
