Give it just a bit of thought, and the parallel approaches of Phantogram and Big Boi become readily apparent. Both acts have long ago conquered their respective genres, with Phantogram successfully breaking out of the indie-electro box and finding acceptance with fans of essentially every genre. And Big Boi? We don't even need to go into all the things that make him a progressive force. Both parties collided on Boi's 2012 cut "Objectum Sexuality," and now it seems there's an entirely new collaboration record form them on the way.
Taking to Instagram Tuesday, Big Boi posted new (presumed) album art with the comment "Big Boi X Phantogram Album Complete !!! Get Ready !!!!" No specific date has been attached to the project, but there is at least a hint to its name/working title. In an Instagram post fired off last month, Phantogram offered a glimpse of lead vocalist Sarah Barthel leaning on Big Boi with the caption "#bestfriendshit #biggrams coming to you very soon!!! @therealbigboi."
Is Big Grams the newest of the new from both acts? Signs point to yes at this point, and more details are sure to be coming soon. For a better refresher on the talents of Phantogram, watch Okayplayer's video of the duo performing "Mouthful of Diamonds" live at the Roots Picnic 2015.
