Paul McCartney Shares Video For "Say Say Say" Update w/ Unheard Vocal Takes From Michael Jackson
I have to say, that as a long-standing contributor to this site I never imagined I’d be writing about Paul McCartney as often as I have been lately. Not that I have any issue in continuing to proclaim my adoration for the titanic songwriting force, but it is rather miraculous that Sir Paul has managed to keep with the times without ever losing himself throughout the duration of his 50-plus years of perennial hit-making. Today, however, we’re taking it back to one of the Fab Four alum’s most unforgettable collaborations (of which there are countless,) none other than the infectious-as-all-hell ’83 r&b gem “Say Say Say” featuring the incomparable Michael Jackson.
The track appeared on Macca’s Pipes Of Peace LP, which was released the same year as MJ’s Thriller and is a bonafide classic by any measure. But in the lead-up to the rerelease of that record, McCartney has offered us an updated mix on the cherished cut in a freshly-unveiled visual for the “Say Say Say” remix, which has a few new tricks for the trained ear. This particular take (which will be hosted by the reissue) features never before heard vocal takes from their studio sessions and some lively added percussion. Here you’ll find MJ and Macca reversing vocal parts, adding new trills and quirks to a track that is as brilliant in 2015 as it was 32 years prior. Below you’ll find a link to Paul McCartney’s Facebook page where a new video of the update debuted. Click through and enjoy, good people.
