Aaron McGruder Is Developing a New Series For Amazon
Rejoice, good people. Boondocks and Black Jesus creator, Aaron McGruder, is gearing up for yet another project in the wild and wonderful world of television. According to Deadline, McGruder is teaming up with Straight Outta Compton producer, Will Packer, to bring a new series to Amazon.
Little of the show or its plot has been revealed, but McGruder and Packer in one creative space seems almost too good to be true. Packer's served as executive producer on a grip of box office smashes, while McGruder remains one of the sharpest and most valued cultural critics in television. And now, with Amazon Studios backing their "alternate universe" project (a reflection of our current political climate?) the duo are set to make waves. Big, bold and cutting waves.
No date for a premiere has been set as of yet, but McGruder's Black Jesus is entering its third season on Adult Swim. Meanwhile, Packer's IMDB page signals no end in sight to his dominance with another Ride Along sequel slated for 2018 and two pictures arriving later this year.
