Pass The Popcorn: Watch A New Teaser Clip Of Don Cheadle Playing Miles Davis

With the day of its official world premiere at the New York Film Festival drawing nearer, Miles Ahead, the crowdfunded biopic of jazz trumpet legend Miles Davis, is starting to come into view. By that we mean that a new teaser clip of the film has been released, in which we see the titular music demigod played by Don Cheadle, who was in large part responsible for making the entire project happen.

In the clip we see Davis composing an ensemble tune with, it appears, Gil Evans before and then leading a large band through a newly-finished groove as he drops bits of musical wisdom such as "Be wrong strong, okay? Otherwise lay the f**k out." Words to live by. Cheadle seems to have taken that impulse to heart with his performance--we learned months ago that he built up some impressive trumpet chops of his own while preparing for Miles Ahead. Those are his own Miles Davis-channeling solo lines we're hearing in this clip, and they do in fact sound pretty damn strong.

Miles Ahead will premiere this Sunday, October 12th, at the New York Film Festival, with a wider theatrical release to follow. Watch the new teaser clip below and stay tuned for future updates on the film. This one looks proper.
